About Dr. Lilker

Dr. Raphael Lilker received his doctorate from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He graduated with Honors in Pi Mu Delta National Podiatry Service Society and received the APMA Educational Foundation Scholarship for academic excellence. Dr. Lilker’s residency training as Chief Resident was completed at Coney Island Hospital in New York where he received rigorous training in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

Upon postgraduate residency completion, he was given faculty status as Attending Physician at the Podiatric Residency and Wound Care Program. He is responsible for inpatient and outpatient care, all facets of medical and surgical training of the podiatric residents, as well as residents from other medical specialties.

Dr. Lilker is a Board Certified member of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a Board Qualified Member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Lilker is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine and an Associate Member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Lilker is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the New York State Podiatric Medical Association. 

Dr. Lilker is well trained in the latest Bunion correction which addresses and corrects all three planes of the deformity. This is a revolutionary system which utilizes a rotational technique approach to the triplanar deformity. Dr. Lilker specializes in minimally invasive heel surgery for plantar fasciitis and strives in getting his patients quickly and effectively back to their normal routines.

Dr. Lilker completed an observership at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. There he has undergone extensive training with the Department of Dermatology studying the secondary side effects of skin and nail changes from cancer therapy. With his observership, Dr. Lilker and his team have submitted an article to be published in the Journal of American Podiatric Medical Association. He is a pioneer podiatrist in skin and nail related issues of the foot post cancer therapy. Dr. Lilker and his team have recently lectured at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine regarding the secondary effects of chemotherapy and other cancer drugs as it relates to the foot and ankle. Students interested have shadowed Dr. Lilker in his midtown office.

Dr. Lilker is a Preferred Medical Provider with the New York State Troopers. As a Police Surgeon, his priority is providing top care to Police State Troopers as well as local Police, Fire, and EMS departments.

In his spare time, Dr. Lilker volunteers at many non-profit organizations. Dr. Lilker is a certified New York State Interior Firefighter and New York State Emergency Medical Technician. Dr. Lilker is part of an onsite medical stand-by team during sporting events at a local high school. Dr. Lilker also provides emergency care to his community and was instrumental during Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in keeping his community safe. Living on the shores of a NYC beach, Dr. Lilker is an avid surf watcher specializing in foot and ankle injuries associated with coastal sports and activities. Dr. Lilker bikes weekly and enjoys competitive cycling and sailing.
